Benz EP is Black Venison's inaugural release, presenting 3 tracks from Vrrs, produced by using exclusively outboard equipment, which is recorded on to tape, mastered by Frank Merritt at the Carvery in London. The cuts sound almost mathematical in structure- tight beat patterns with simplistic floor-filling riffs. There’s the classic-sounding vocal sample of 190 E hovering above the hardware-heavy house hook. This release is the sound of the label who are looking to cause damage but won’t necessarily be using all the usual weaponry. The limited release of Benz might well end up being a landmark artefact.
